Ocho Rios cruises

Previously a fishing village situated on the north of the island upon an expansive sandy bay, Ocho Rios is renowned for its buzzing nightlife, fantastic food and golden sand beaches. One of the most popular attractions is Dunn’s River Falls, where so many visitors have walked up the smooth limestone rocks of the shimmering waters to dive in and feel refreshed. Ocho Rios has equally stunning alternatives to this better known location, and you will find just as enjoyable and invigorating an experience at Irie Blue Hole on the White River at the top of the north coast. This series of waterfalls and pools provides an unforgettable day out in this beautiful island’s wild nature.

Cool off in the shade of 11 leafy hectares of lush gardens at the old country house in Shaw Park. Indulge in action-packed watersports at Island Village Beach and savour the flavours of succulent seafood and fresh-caught fish brought in daily at Ocho Rios.

Local legend, Bob Marley, has a half-man, half-tree statue of himself in the centre of the village here, a testament to the national pride Jamaica feels for Marley’s unmistakable musical talent.

Please note: The shore excursions listed are typical for this port. The full programme of shore excursions available for your cruise will be displayed on Cruise Personaliser at least 12 weeks prior to departure.

  • Jamaica Insight

An overview on all that is best and most beautiful about Jamaica, from its natural splendour to its rich history.

    Jamaica Insight

Your drive from Ocho Rios on the new North/South highway will carry you through the heart of Jamaica’s immense beauty to Kingston, set between the Blue Mountains and the world’s seventh-largest natural harbour.

You’ll drive past Jamaica House, Jamaica’s seat of government and Vale Royal, built in 1694, the Prime Minister’s official residence.

The highlight of the day is your visit to the palatial Devon House. This Jamaican Georgian mansion, with its lavishly decorated library, ballroom, sitting rooms, sewing room, dining room, and bedrooms, was built in 1881 by George Stiebel, Jamaica’s first black millionaire.

As you walk round, you will be following in the footsteps of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip who have visited the house. The garden is no less delightful, with its many outbuildings, lawns and enormous, ancient trees. The carriage house and courtyard are now home to the famous Grog Shoppe restaurant, where you’ll enjoy lunch, finishing up with a dessert of the island’s best ice cream. Then, how better to work off lunch than with a little browsing in the tempting boutique shops?

In the late afternoon light, you will appreciate an entirely different perspective through the glorious mountains, back to Ocho Rios.

This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. Journey time to Kingston is approximately one hour. There is approximately two hours walking on this tour. All areas of Devon House are paved and there are two staircases in the Mansion.
