    Enjoy a scenic drive passing by the prominent landmarks and historic buildings as your guide introduces the many fascinating personalities and events that make Saint John the greatest little city in the east.

    Stopping on the west side of the city, you’ll enjoy an exterior view of the Carleton Martello Tower and visit the interpretation centre. The tower was built during the War of 1812 as a precaution against an American attack, and although 16 such towers were constructed across Canada in the early 19th century, this is one of the few remaining.

    One sight not to be missed when calling at Saint John, is the famous Reversing Falls at Fallsview Park. From the bluffs, your guide will explain how twice daily the powerful tides of the Bay of Fundy rise faster than the river can empty.

    You will also drive past the Irving Mansion, Rockwood Park, Loyalist Burial Grounds, and Historic Trinity Royal. Walk through the Old City Market on Germain Street, where local folk have been purchasing their fresh fruits, vegetables, fish and meats since 1876.

    This excursion will operate by city bus and on foot. Guests will have approximately 20 minutes to explore The Old City Market. Exact ‘tidal cycles’ of the river cannot be guaranteed and the reversing falls my not always be witnessed. Sensible, flat walking shoes are recommended for the tour.

    A wonderful opportunity to join Captain Craig and discover life as a 4th generation New Brunswick lobster fisherman.

    Lobster Catch Experience

    Captain Craig will join you at the pier and accompany you on a short walk to the wharf to join your boat. Having spent 35 years trawling the Bay of Fundy for lobster, Captain Craig has a wealth of knowledge and experiences to share.

    From trying your hand at hauling a trap and tying a buoy, you’ll have the chance to participate in many aspects of lobster fishing while Captain Craig gives you an insider’s perspective on the local industry.

    Following your time on the boat, Captain Craig will walk you to the Old City Market to try a delicious lobster roll. Your tour will end here, and for those who wish to can stay in town to explore own your own, or walk back to the pier with Captain Craig.

    This excursion will operate on foot and by boat. There are limited places on this tour and early booking is advised. This tour involves around 45 minutes of walking, and there is a ramp with 60 steps to access the boat. Flat, non-slip shoes are essential. It is advisable to dress in layers and to bring a jacket. Guests who wish to remain in the Old City Market are responsible for making their own way back to the ship. The lobster catch experience on board the boat is around 1¾ hours.

    Gain an overview of Saint John and visit the Skywalk, a glass walkway suspended 120 feet above the reversing falls.

    From the pier, take a drive through the colourful streets of Saint John’s historic uptown, with a stop at Harbour Passage. Here, you’ll take a short stroll along the water’s edge and admire the views from the Fort Howe lookout. Your drive continues with a brief stop en route at Fallsview Park. At this point the Bay of Fundy and the Saint John River meet, causing the change of direction and flow of the tides.

    It’s then on to the highlight of your tour, Skywalk Saint John, an observation rooftop sectioned with glass. Upon arrival, take the elevator up to the rooftop theatre, where a short film will be shown that explains the tidal phenomenon and how the reversing falls are created. You’ll then step out onto the observation platform, which extends 110 feet from the cliff edge. As you walk over the glass sections, peer down and catch unparalleled views of the tidal conditions below.

    After your visit to the Skywalk, sit back and enjoy the return drive to the port.

    This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. Children must be able to walk on their own over the skywalk or seated in a pushchair, as they are not permitted to be carried in parent’s arms. To derive full enjoyment of this tour some walking is required. Guests must be able to negotiate steps onto and off the coach.     Tastes of St John Walking Tour

    From the pier, follow your guide on foot into the historical uptown area of St John. Prepare your tastes buds as you begin discover the St John food scene.

    Your first stop will be at the Java Moose, to enjoy coffee in true St John style, sweetened with delicious maple syrup, before heading to Beavertails, to sample a freshly baked, maple-glazed pastry.

    Continue through the original wrought-iron gates of the Old City Market, where you’ll find an abundance of stalls offering locally-produced food and sweets. Sample Dulse, a deep purple sea vegetable, and a selection of seafood delicacies including a lobster roll slider. For a sweet treat, savour the taste of a cream-filled ‘lobster tail’ pastry. At the next stop, a local café that specialises in using local ingredients, you can try some tasty sausage, cheese and bread.

    To round off your tour, you’ll make your way to a popular wine bar to relax with a glass of wine, before walking back to the pier.

This tour involves 2½-3 hours of leisurely walking over varying terrain, which includes some steps and slight inclines. Flat, comfortable shoes are recommended.     Travel along the picturesque Fundy Coastal Drive to Hopewell Rocks. Your local guide will delight you on the way with both facts and folklore surrounding the Bay of Fundy coastal communities.

    Pass through Fundy National Park, where you can often spot various bird species and even an occasional moose. Next, get ready to discover Hopewell Rocks, the icon of New Brunswick, and a UNESCO designated Biosphere Reserve. Experience these Flowerpot Rocks, created by the clash of continents, carved by melting glaciers, then sculpted by the highest tides in the world. Interpretation will be delivered to explain how twice daily one hundred billion tons of water creates tides that can rise up to 50 feet.

    A light luncheon will be served at High Tide Café, before taking a drive New Brunswick countryside on your journey back to the pier.

    This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. Guests must be able to walk approximately 300 yards over pebbled and wet surfaces, and negotiate an optional 100 steps. Sturdy walking shoes, that you do not mind getting wet and muddy, are recommended.     Perched on the shores of the Bay of Fundy and less than an hour away from Saint John, is the picturesque fishing village of St Martins, a beautiful window through which to take a peek at life in New Brunswick.

    You will pass through Saint John and the scenic countryside en route to St Martins. Stop at the Reversing Falls to view this interesting curiosity. From the bluffs, your guide will explain that twice daily the powerful tides of the Bay of Fundy rise faster than the river can empty, causing the rapids to run in the opposite direction and the St John River to flow backwards.

    Afterwards, you will visit St Martins sea caves and beach, which were carved out by the pounding tides and the rock covered beach. The caves are accessible at low tide, but can also be viewed from the beach. Enjoy a cup of traditional Maritime Seafood Chowder at a local restaurant on the beach. This area is a favourite with photographers and painters, with its lighthouse, lobster traps, and fishing boats creating a charming scene.

    Upon your return to Saint John, your guide will escort you through the Old City Market, where local folks have been purchasing fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, and meats since 1876.
