Your knowledgeable guide will lead you through the National Archaeological Museum. Marvel at the perfection, presence and power of the bronze statue of Poseidon and consider the excitement felt by Schliemann at Mycenae when he discovered the so-called death mask of Agamemnon along with a plethora of gold items.

Overlooked by the mighty monuments of the Acropolis stands the famous shopping district of Athens, The Plaka. The mazy and cobble-stoned pedestrian streets are a haven, which hide numerous plazas filled with boutiques and shops of every description.

After free time in the Plaka, luncheon will be served in one of the most unique restaurants in Athens. The restaurant produces food to traditional recipes as eaten by the population of ancient Greece. Dine as Gods of Ancient Greece - in a truly unique and unforgettable experience.

  • The Ruins of Pompeii

Two-thirds of the ancient city of Pompeii has been excavated allowing you to explore this once flourishing civilisation.

    The Ruins of Pompeii

Take a guided walk through the rocky ruins of the excavated city of Pompeii. The baths and the theatres, the wrestling ground and the luxurious villas stand empty, yet there are many echoes of Pompeii's daily life; the wine jars are still set on the counter of the wine shop, the stepping stones are there to help you cross the street in the rainy season, and the mosaic floors and brilliant frescoes are a wonder to this very day. The plaster casts of the volcano's victims are particularly poignant and one can never forget the horrible events that brought life in Pompeii to an end.

Your guide will recount the fascinating story of Pompeii, its demise and how it has been miraculously excavated and restored over hundreds of years.

During your drive to Pompeii, you will have views of Vesuvius, the still-active volcano located about 15 miles south east of Naples.

This excursion will operate by coach and on foot. A substantial amount of walking is required on this tour and surfaces are uneven and cobbled. Flat, comfortable walking shoes are essential. Pushchairs are not recommended at Pompeii. Toilet facilities are limited.

    The Best of Crete

The capital of Minoan Crete was the largest and most sophisticated palace on the island. It contained over 1,000 rooms and enjoyed the comforts of an elaborate drainage system, flushing toilets and paved roads. Your guided tour will take you through the ruins of the ancient capital of Minoan Crete.

An hour's drive, through the ever-changing Cretan countryside, will bring you to Aghios Nikolaos, one of the island's most famous resorts.
