Ronald Warwick - Former QM2 Captain and Commodore
Commodore William Warwick, who served with Cunard Line for 35 years, was the first master of Queen Elizabeth 2 when she came into service in 1969, and Commodore Ron Warwick became master of the same ship in July 1990 – the same day that Her Majesty The Queen was on board to commemorate the company’s 150th Anniversary.
During an eventful career, Commodore Warwick has sailed as Chief Officer to the Falklands in 1982, performed his own daughter’s marriage ceremony on board QE2, written an accomplished book on QE2 and has even dived to the wreck of the Titanic! He is a Captain of the Royal Naval Reserve, a Fellow of the Nautical Institute – and, by virtue of his service to the Merchant Navy, was awarded on OBE by The Queen.
His final transatlantic crossing on Queen Mary 2 began in New York on 24 July with a Farewell Reception co-hosted by Cunard and the Steamship Historical Society of America.
