Queen Elizabeth will simply thrive in sunnier climes, as she encourages guests to venture out on to her inviting expanse of open deck to be as energetic or relaxed as they please. Deck 9 is the centre of her al fresco world, focused on The Garden Lounge, whose abundant foliage is bathed in natural light from the stunningly vaulted curves of a conservatory-style roof, inspired by the glass houses at Kew Gardens. And when the warm weather entices you on to the spacious Games Deck, you’ll notice a definite English country garden ambience, with the gentle clunk of croquet balls, traditional bowls or paddle tennis in the welcome shade of its canopy.
