Take a drive through the quaint capital of St George’s enjoying the sights and scenery as you pass by the ruins of the Government House. You will see the parishes of St. Paul’s and St. David and numerous spice plantations as you wend your way along the small roads.
Along the eastern side of the island, you will pass two seaside villages. At Marquis, the local people weave the abundant pandanus grasses into crafts of all sorts. Soubise is home to some of the locally built, brightly coloured fishing boats, which dot the beaches and seas of Grenada. The vivid colours of the boats contrast beautifully with the soft azure blue of the Caribbean.
From the coast, your tour heads inland, ascending the central peaks en route to the National Park Nature Centre at Grand Etang. Grand Etang Lake sits at 1,900 feet within the crater of an extinct volcano and has a wonderful cobalt blue colouring. Whilst here, you’ll be offered some welcome refreshments.
Descend the fern-fringed road to Annandale Falls, where a short but steep walk brings you to a lush paradise of rushing water and hanging greenery. After this pleasant stop, you will return to St. George’s. Note: Guests who wish to visit Annandale Falls are forewarned of the steep walk involved. Flat, comfortable shoes are recommended. Forestry and foliage were badly damaged by Hurricane Ivan and rejuvenation of areas such as Grand Etang may not be complete.

Located approximately 600 feet above sea level, with views of the Caribbean and Atlantic coasts, Sunnyside Gardens are the pride of Mrs Jean Renwick. The gardens are both classical and colonial. The rolling hills of the garden contain 150-year-old Mahogany trees and a variety of palms and exotic fruit trees.
Inspired by an architect from Norway, who believed that plants should be allowed to grow where they plant themselves, Mrs Renwick used Zoysia Grass from Japan, Agave and Silver Mangrove.
Enjoy the ‘rainforest’ area, and a fishpond with exotic lilies and Koi Carp. Extensive use has been made of palms including the Bottle Palm. Clumps of cycads and bougainvillaea complete the picture of this unique and private garden.
At the end of your tour, rum punch or a local fruit juice will be provided on the veranda of the house. Note: There are some gentle slopes to be negotiated and some steeper slopes within the rainforest section of the garden. Comfortable non-slip shoes are recommended.
